Hesedh for Life Landscaping

The first step is to find a good location in your landscape to start construction of your pond.  The materials you will need are rocks and boulders, 3 mil pond liner, pond pump kit, shovel and energy.

Dig the shape, size and depth of the pond to your liking. Tier your pond at
different depths for placing plants. Tiering will also allow critters that might fall into pond a way to escape, so as not to drown.

How to construct a pond...
Building a pond can be a wonderful addition for your landscape.  Here is a quick guide to teach you the basics to constructing your own pond.  This project takes just a weekend of hard work, and the end result is well worth the effort.
Dig 3 foot trench for your electrical conduit, that will supply power to your pond pump. You will need to tie into an existing electrical circuit.
If you don't know how to do this contact an electrician.
After you have finished digging out your pond.  It is now time to lay out your liner and hold down liner with specified rocks and boulders. Make sure the liner is secured under your foundation boulders.
This will insure the water in your pond will not leak out of designated area.
Start laying your bigger foundation boulders first.  Stack rocks and boulders in staggered patterns.  If you are wanting to achieve a waterfall feature make sure you make that area of the pond higher.
As you look over your selection of rocks and boulders make sure you follow contour of pond and allow each boulder to help you figure out the design of your pond.  If you have any plastic left over you can cover it with smaller rocks and dirt. Take time in the layout to add your own personality.
Once you have constructed your pond  lay mulch around the area to give it a clean look while you take time to consider what plants to put in and around your pond.
You can add personality to your pond with decorative accents such as mini slate chips, hardwood mulch, water plants, flowers, small shrubs and dwarf evergreens.  A firepit  is also a great addition to any backyard landscape.
Once your plantings start to thrive in and around your pond you will see your landscape develop its own personality, and become a beautiful habitat for many garden creatures.
